This month’s safety awards were given to Ian Connell  and Sam Durcan for their best practice observations in the workshop.

Ian observed that the Bohrtec diesel power pack (which was being mobilised in the workshop) was exhausting inside, causing a build-up of fumes. Ian, without prompt, used 300mm ducting to duct the fumes out of the workshop and prevent the fumes accumulating inside.

Sam noticed no safety notices were displayed around the new battery charging quarantine area. Sam spoke to management, using previous experience to highlight what signs could be used and where, to make operatives working in the area more aware of the safety issues associated with battery charging.
