At Eccles Waste Water Treatment Works, Johnston Trenchless Solutions (JTS), have been tunnelling a short (25m) drive for a sewage pipeline using Specialist Plants's ø1200 dia. mechanised backhoe in shield. The machine was completely overhauled and upgraded prior to being sent to site, with JTS planning to use the Backhoe again for another 120m drive later at Eccles. 

Specialist Plant supplied the Backhoe with complete ancillaries including shove can and ring, jacking rig, and a 10' hydraulics container. 

What is a Backhoe?

A backhoe is a mechanised excavator, suitable for Pipejacking drives up to 300m (125m for 120mm dia. backhoe). Operated within a shield, the self-contained excavator uses a conveyor coupled with Winched Bogies for mucking away. 

Our Backhoe in Shield comes fully equipped with all the necessary ancillaries, including: Bogies, Skips, Winches, Jacking Spacers/Shove Rings, Jacking Rig and 10' Hydraulic Container.
